The National Council of Teachers of English alternates the locations of their annual convention. This year, it is in Philadelphia, just a short Amtrak or bus ride away. You may want to recruit a group of friends and combine a wonderful professional development opportunity with a fun road trip. There are lots of terrific speakers, popular authors, and more workshops than you can attend. And the Exhibit Hall is always a treat, especially on the last day when there are giveaways.
If you join NCTE as a student, the dues are only $20. Then full attendance for Thursday through Sunday (over 600 sessions plus social events, but excluding special meals, etc) at the convention is $90, compared to $200+ for regular members. These rates are for early registration, which ends Oct.23.
The Convention is November 19-22, the weekend before Thanksgiving. Find out more information here!
