In honor of February 14th, I am reposting favorite Valentine’s Day books and adding some new ones. Feel free to reply with your favorites.
Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch by Eileen Spinelli and Paul Yalowitz.
This is such a wonderful story about the power of love and friendship!
(And a great picture book read aloud for all grades!)
The Valentine Bears by two favorites, Eve Bunting and Jan Brett.
Since the bears are always hibernating, they don’t get to celebrate until Mrs. Bear plans a surprise. It’s interesting to contrast this book’s illustrations to Brett’s later style.
The I LOVE YOU Book by Todd Parr

Roses are Pink, Your Feet Really Stink by Diane de Groat
There’s kid appeal with just the title, but also adorable illustrations and plenty to talk about: teasing, the challenge of being nice to everyone, and forgiveness.
Looking for an…
